Beamshot AAA lights, June 2010
This collection of beamshots includes some known AAA lights (Preon, A3, Fenix) and a few new (Mr.Lite and EagleTac). The lights are (Same sequence as picture): EagleTac PN20a, 4Sevens Preon I, Fenix LD01, ITP A3 EOS Upgrade, Mr.Lite PT1, EagleTac PN20A2, Fenix LD05, 4Sevens Preon II
All lights are using eneloop batteries.
I have measured the light output with a ceiling bounce, this shows that most of the 1xAAA lights here are close in output (Note:PT1 is 2xAAA, but only uses one AAA for the light). With 2xAAA only Preon II is really taking advantage of the increased power with more than double light output compared to Preon I.
With all brightness settings in the same graph, it can be seen that some lights (PN20a, PN20a2 and PT1) are missing a real low setting
Measuring of lux at one meter gives an indication of throw. EagleTac are some of the better, considering that their total output is in the low end.
Beam profile
These light has some differences in the beam profile.
EagleTac PN20a, 4Sevens Preon I, Fenix LD01
ITP A3 EOS Upgrade, Mr.Lite PT1, EagleTac PN20A2
Fenix LD05, 4Sevens Preon II
Reduced exposure
With reduced exposure it is easier to see how bright the hotspot is.
EagleTac PN20a, 4Sevens Preon I, Fenix LD01
ITP A3 EOS Upgrade, Mr.Lite PT1, EagleTac PN20A2
Fenix LD05, 4Sevens Preon II
Low brightness
These pictures show the lowest brightness setting.
EagleTac PN20a, 4Sevens Preon I, Fenix LD01
ITP A3 EOS Upgrade, Mr.Lite PT1, EagleTac PN20A2
Fenix LD05, 4Sevens Preon II
Trees
Here I uses the light on the brightest setting and aim them at some trees, the difference in brightness and beam profile is obvious.

Notes
My EagleTac PN20a has a problem, it will not stay on high. This may affect the pictures and measurements of it.
