Beamshot of 14 big lights, September 2010

This collection of beamshots contains some new lights compared to my other beamshot comparisons: Sunwayled, M31 and SR91, the rest of the lights has been included in some of my other beamshots. in this beamshots I have also added a table summarize the functions of each light.

The following lights are included (Same sequence as pictures): Sunwayled M30A, Sunwayled M40A, Sunwayled M40C, Fenix TK40, Fenix TK45, ThruNite Catapult V2, OLight M31, OLight SR90, OLight SR91, JetBeam RRT-3, JetBeam M2S, Titanium L35, Xtar D30 Howitzer, EagleTac M2XC4.



With the Sunwayled the brightness increased with more batteries and better batteries, i.e. the 2x18650 is brightest and has about the same brightness as all other lights with 2x18650 batteries. The two big OLights SR90/SR91 are nearly equal in light, this does not follow the specifications for them.



Compiling all the brightness settings in one graph, it can be seen that Sunwayled has two normal levels and one very low level. TK45 and RRT-3 also has a very low level, but has more normal levels. Catapult, SR90 and SR91 only has very bright levels. I believe that the light with the best spacing of levels are M2XC4 and TK40 lights.



Here I have measured lux at 4 meters to get a estimate of throw (I left out the L35, it gives misleading numbers). The best thrower is the SR90, but SR91 with the smaller reflector is also a good thrower. The Sunwayled lights, TK45 and D30 are not designed for throw.



Some of these lights are rather heavy, for huge amount of light there is a need for lots of battery capacity. I have used 2x18650 or eneloop batteries when measuring weight.
Note: The D30 was measured with two LiIon D cells.



In this table I have tried to collect the key features of each light. For the user interface I use the following abbreviations: TS: Tail switch, SS: Side switch, ESS: Electronic side switch, Head: Loosing/tighten the head is used in the ui, Ring: A ring is used in the ui.



I have checked some US websites for a price estimate of the different lights.
